Post Partum Reflection
I thought Post Partum was very interesting. We got to see the new born babies and also the babies that were premature in the NICU. Some of the babies that were in the NICU were premature because their mothers did Meth while pregnant with them. Their parents were only aloud to see them a couple days a week. It was so sad but it was good that they weren’t with their mothers. We also met with Sharon Henderson. Ms. Henderson is the Maternal
and Neonatal Services Director. She is in charge of all the patients in the
department and makes sure that they are taken care of. When Madi and I
arrived, Ms. Henderson had unfortunately forgotten that we were coming and so
had already done her rounds of checking up on the patients. So instead we all
talked in her office while she was entering her patients’ information into her
computer. We talked about her job and what her responsibilities are, but mainly
we just talked about college. Ms. Henderson had been a financial advisor for a
college when she had lived in California. She told us all about how best to pay
for school and where to look for scholarships and other financial aid. True
this wasn’t the most exciting job shadowing experience, but I did learn from it
and was glad for the opportunity.
