Emergency Room Reflection
This week I got to job shadow in the Emergency Room. It was very interesting. A nurse named John took us on a tour of the department and explained all the different rooms to us. He also took us to the helicopter pad. After the tour, we got to sit in on a meeting with all the leaders of the ER. They discussed things from the previous week that were good, bad, and that need improvement. Then we met up with Daxton, he is the vice president of Emergency Service. He
starts out the day, checking emails and seeing how the day and night bed
availability went. They have 4 areas, they call pods,
that have certain beds for the different severities of the condition. They also
have a room with 2 beds that is split with a curtain, both sides contain the
exact same thing as the other. This room is mainly used for patients that have
to have medical attention on-the-spot, surgery, heart, respiration, giving
birth right then and there. This was a very exciting day!
